Uhm… nobody consulted me about the change in the blogger.com interface…
Hello, my little smurflings.
I am taking a writing break… to write, apparently.
I am sitting here with my full notepad and super organized index cards — on which I used a highlighter! I don’t think I even owned one of those throughout college.
I am currently listening to “One Night in Bangkok” and trying to get into the writing zone, you know?
What I am writing is a novella. (The lovely, talented and fragrant Clink already made the “your novella (ella… ella…)” joke.)
Why a novella, you ask?
Oh, you didn’t ask.
*Whistles*
That was your cue to ask.
No, I’m not telling you what to do, it’s just –
Fiiiiiine.
It is going to be a novella because it is technically a little short to be a full novel. Plus, it is fun to say “novella.”
Try it.
See?
Because I am me, I vacillate (hourly) between loving what I am writing and thinking it is quite possibly the most mediocre crap ever.
And now I am having some doubts about the structure of the entire thing. You know how a lot of movies/books/etc. involve a three arc story? Intro, problem, then resolution.
This is not really like that.
It is like…
- bam! the problem
- intro told through spread out flashbacks
- relationship goes up, down, up, down, up, down (Did it just get warm in here?)
- resolution(ish)
Maybe that is OK.
Maybe I can make my own novella rules.
Did I mention that it is based on this post from the past? (I changed the names.)
Now iTunes is playing Madonna’s “Crazy For You.” I didn’t even know she cared.
Back to writing, suckas.

Can’t wait to read it!
You can do it!
That’s the extent of my cheerleading.
(Which is why I got kicked off the squad.)
:D
You wanna take a break and write some shitty Uni poetry homework for me?
I am reallllllly starting to hate writing (or in this case, staring at a blank word document) poetry.
BEst of luck with the novella.
Look forward to reading it someday.
Hmmm some how I’m not surprised the focus your novella will be crappy relationships.
Good for you. Seriously. The doubt is a natural part of the process, I think, but… yeah. Go on with your bad self.
Hooray! I’m glad you’re getting a lot of writing done! :)
I now have “One Night in Bangkok” stuck firmly in my head. (Yes, I know it!)
And I am intrigued with your new novella rules… it all sounds so complicated and different… and exciting! Keep going…
Novella!
I shall name my first daughter that. Thank ye.

You know it’s going to be amazing. And we’ll have a cuddle session after it’s published.
I’m vertically challenged and I take offense to the smurfling mention in your first sentence. :P
