The Clubhouse

17Jul08

Kitty Cat likes spending time in her grandpa’s shed clubhouse.

The other afternoon, they were out there playing — and calling for snacks to be delivered. A couple of hours later, munchkinpants came back with nails that looked like this:

(She has matching toenails too!)

Now, my father is a big burly guy. He left home at 16 to work in a logging camp. He is where I get my ruggedness.

What? Why are you laughing?

So, he claimed that the nail polish was typically used on his fishing hooks.

Yeahbutstill.

I can see the metallic blue, silver and even white. But…

“Midnight Mauve?”

I was at the crib, sittin’ by the fireplace
Drinkin’ cocoa on the bear skin rug

After we all had a few laughs at his expense, he turned to Kitty Cat and said, “If anyone else asks, we are going to tell them that the nail fairy came in and painted them, OK?”

You know, those kind of look like the colors of the American flag. With the silver representing the pole that they wave on and the fence along the Mexican/American border.
